It was midnight, and the scene was frightening and beautiful. If anything, certainly otherworldly. The moon was full and shrouded by a thick, fast-moving fog. Looking towards the ocean there was only one color visible, in a gradient of 4 or 5 tones, but to your left or right along the coast they all merged into a sheer gray. It wasn’t vast, rather just the opposite. I experienced a span of absolute nothing for the first time.
